Those with sharp eyes are being challenged to put their problem-solving skills to the test with an adorable yet pretty tricky new brain teaser.

The puzzle in question shows a pack of sweet golden labrador puppies frolicking happily together in a scene filled with plush pet beds, leads, food bowls, and plenty of mud.

It's a picture reminiscent of some sort of canine paradise, but as all dog owners know, there's one object in particular that all excitable young pups love above all others: their favourite ball.

Puzzle lovers have been asked to find the solitary ball among the sea of playful dogs, using all their powers of observation.

Take a look at the following picture below, and see if you can spot it in under 38 seconds:

Did you manage it? Don't worry if you need a bit more time. This is a particularly challenging puzzle, and only those with the sharpest eyes will be able to spot the ball quickly.

According to Lords & Labradors, the pet supply company that provided the dog-themed brain teaser, it takes an average of 38 seconds for a person to clock the ball among the variety of canine accessories.

If you ended up giving up in frustration, however, then you're absolutely not alone. A third of people who've tried the puzzle have reportedly given up and admitted defeat, without ever locating the missing ball. If you're still determined to try, then you're doing well.

When you're ready, take a look at the same picture below, this time with the ball helpfully circled:

Of course, the more observation-based puzzles you try, the more impressive your abilities will become. If you fancy a bit more practice, then perhaps cast your eye over this busy woodland carnival scene, which contains a single carrot.

As is the case with this puppy puzzle, only those with enviably sharp eyes will be able to pick out the solitary carrot in five seconds or less.
