Most people who have been on a plane will know some basic etiquette so that fellow passengers can get along without need for arguments. No feet up on the seats, don't eat smelly food and be polite are all basic rules the majority of us adhere to but sometimes there are grey areas.

A reality TV star has sparked debate after posting a TikTok of what she believed to be good plane etiquette, only to find that some of her followers really didn't agree.

Her controversial move was staying seated while waiting for her row on the plane to be able to disembark.

Batsheva Haart, who starred in My Unorthodox Life, posted a video to her TikTok with the caption: "Easier said than done." She can be seen sat on the plane lip syncing to the song Kill Bill by SZA with the lyrics "I'm so mature".

While other passengers stand up around her, Batsheva stays seated and in the text over the video wrote: "Sitting in my seat instead of standing up until its my row's turn to deplane."

The video has over 2.2 million views and hundreds of comments with people getting heated over whether this is actually proper etiquette.

One viewer said: "Some people have layovers that are short and don't have time to sit around and wait" while another added: "If you have another flight that's about to take off, you're going to stand to get off asap."

"I stand up to get ready to exit quickly. I can't stand the people who could have stood up but then need 2 mins to get moving," shared a third.

Many users pointed out that people may simply want to stretch their legs after a long flight so stand up or move around a bit while waiting. One said: "Some of us stand to stretch our backs. Has nothing to do with getting off sooner and hurts absolutely no one."

However, Batsheva wasn't alone in her seated "maturity" as one user wrote: "Thank you I cannot stand when people start standing up and the doors not even open."

Another came to her defence and said: "Exactly. Never understood the rush to go… um… nowhere."

For some people it was not the standing up that was the problem, instead they took issue with queuing in the aisle. Someone wrote: "the standing is fine (people need to stretch). The problem is when they don’t know about row by row exiting…."

"Until people in the rows behind try pushing to skip me lol like ??" said another, with a third adding: "And then ppl behind you start lining up in the aisles. So unorganized."

A flight attendant even weighed in on the debate, although she was all for people rushing off the plane and said: "I totes get it but I also want everyone up and out ASAP since we don't get paid once the door is open."
