'I'm sick of my neighbour blasting the same songs - so I sent them a playlist'

Almost all of us will have experienced having noisy neighbours at some point, and while we can usually excuse it for one day, it can become tedious when you're dealing with it constantly.

When the disturbance gets too much, it's not uncommon for people to turn to writing strongly worded letters demanding their neighbours keep the noise down - and one woman has shared one such letter in a viral post on Twitter.

It's unclear whether the woman received the letter or wrote it herself to send to her neighbour, but the note takes aim at the fact that one person on her street keeps playing loud music every weekend, and only enjoys a small selection of songs.

Instead of taking a passive-aggressive route and demanding the music-loving neighbour stay silent, the note simply asks them to broaden their musical horizons by incorporating more songs into their playlists.

In a post on Twitter, Bosi (@bosibori_Ke) shared a picture of the note, in which the writer told the recipient they were "tired" of them playing "the same mixes over and over again", and listed five alternative mixes they could incorporate into their playlist for a change.

The note read: "Dear neighbours,

"We appreciate the music you play to entertain yourselves and us during the weekend. However, we ARE TIRED of you playing the same mixes over and over again. Please try mixes from:

  1. DJ Tophaz - Vibez O'Clock
  2. DJ Shinski - Best of 2023 Afrobeats, Naija Overdose #14
  3. The Wake Up Call with Grauchi #96 and #101
  4. Deejay Lexzy - Best Afro Naija Takeover
  5. DJ Niido - The Fix: Dancehall Gengetone

"Happy Jamming!"

The woman simply captioned the picture "lmao", so it's unclear whether she wrote the note to send to her neighbours, or whether she's the neighbour with the repetitive music taste.

Noisy neighbours can often be a nuisance, and we previously reported one woman who said her neighbours' decision to play music until 4 am has left her seven-year-old son unable to sleep until it stops.

The mum, from the US, claims the neighbours who make the noise are a middle-aged couple between 50 and 60 years old, and after spending June and July in quiet bliss, they began their loud music habits in August with seemingly no warning.

She said: "Here's where it all starts. At the beginning of August, he starts blasting music through the surround sound speakers. During the week, it starts at around 1 pm and doesn't stop until usually midnight. If it's the weekend, it won’t stop until 4 am. This happened every single day of August.

"It has gotten to the point that my son is not sleeping until it turns off and my husband has to take max strength melatonin to be able to sleep through the night so he can work in the morning."
