If you don't have a driveway or a garage to park your car, then you'll know how much of a pain it can be to try and find a roadside space outside your house when you get home from work.

But one woman has said her neighbour has taken things too far, as they've begun yelling at her for parking in the space outside her own house - because they believe they "own" it.

The 26-year-old woman insisted her neighbour has a driveway to park her car but has begun chastising the woman for parking on the road outside her house because she believes the space is hers, despite it being public roadside parking.

What's more, the woman's neighbour - whom she estimated to be between 45 and 50 - has even claimed the space is reserved for whenever she has guests over to visit, so she can't park there - even when she has no visitors.

In a post on Reddit, the woman fumed: "I just had a neighbour go insane on me yesterday about parking in front of my house. She started off by implying I'm stupid and was taking up two spots, and [then said] she owns those two spots for herself and her guests whenever they want to come over.

"I didn't take up two spots and a car and actually parked next to me earlier that day.

"We always spoke [casually by saying] hi/bye and waving [when we saw each other], so when she insulted me, it threw me off-guard. I just calmly said 'ok' so she could go away and I could get to work. She walked back and tried to be 'nice' and explain but you could feel the hate in her voice."

The woman has continued to park in the spot, but her neighbour has begun to take action and will move her own car from her driveway into the roadside space whenever the woman leaves for work.

After getting fed up with the parking situation, the woman has spoken to her landlord - but is considering moving house so she doesn't have to deal with neighbours trying to "bully" her out of a parking space.

She added: "Now, she waits until I get in my car to leave and she takes the spot while having her own private driveway. I regret not telling her to leave me alone the first time. No one really owns the parking spots so I plan on ignoring her but If she pops up again, I'll have to talk to [tell her to] f**k off.

"I told my landlord just to be aware and he thinks she's crazy, and to ask her for her permit if she owns it. He said he will talk to her too if he sees her."

In a later update to the post, she explained: "So my landlord spoke to her so I'll drop it and ignore her, but I'm still getting the hell out of here. I don't like people trying to bully or provoke arguments when I'm trying to chill out and got s**t to do."

Commenters on the post were baffled by the woman's neighbour, as they said they could understand if the neighbour had been annoyed at her for parking outside their house, but not for parking outside of her own property.

One wrote: "Wait! What?! She's territorial over the public spaces in front of your house? I get being annoyed when someone else is constantly taking up all the space in front of their home, but to be territorial over the public spaces in front of someone else's home? Wtf?!"
