Kell Brook and Conor Benn were separated by security after a heated altercation ringside at Katie Taylor's fight in Dublin.

British star Benn is currently out of action as he awaits a comeback fight following the collapse of his contest with Chris Eubank Jr last year after he failed a drug test. Meanwhile Brook has declared his retirement from the sport after beating bitter rival Amir Khan in February last year, but it is likely he could be convinced to return for a fight.

Both high-profile fighters were in attendance at Katie Taylor's shock defeat to Chantelle Cameron on Saturday night at the 3Arena in Dublin, having previously teased a meeting in the ring. However tensions escalated outside of the squared circle, while 'Special K' was giving an interview to Matchroom Boxing.

Brook spotted Benn who appeared to be heckling him from off-camera and the pair squared up to one another in a face-off style altercation. And it was 'The Destroyer' who acted first to turn the heated altercation fiery by pushing his rival who was sent careering backwards before returning to try and push his rival back.

The pair were quickly swarmed by a sea of security who split Brook and Benn who were gunning for each other after the incident occurred. Following the physical confrontation, Benn revealed he was left angered by his rival's presence and vowed to end their battle in quickfire fashion if they lace up their gloves.

"I just said to him, 'stay retired mate, stay retired because you're gonna get hurt messing with me'," Benn told Boxing Social in an immediate reaction after the altercation. It's personal if you lay your hands on me like that. Let's handle it in the ring. I stop him in two rounds, two rounds.

“If you choose to fight me, it's your death wish. Old men keep calling me out, I think you lot should stay retired. But I'll beat them easy and cash in lovely, so if they want it, they can get it. I ain't gonna turn down an offer to fight legends.”

Brook previously discussed a fight with Benn immediately after his win over Khan, but the fight was first put to bed after he declared he would no longer compete in the ring. However after the emphatic nature of his return earlier this year, Brook has regularly teased a comeback despite having declared his retirement.

He told talkSPORT: I think I’ve just been pushed and prodded by a fella we all know now, Conor Benn. You know, a fighter’s a fighter, it’s always in me and I love the challenges. I’d love to show this young Benn what time it is. But, obviously we’ve got to sit down with his boss, Eddie Hearn, and his manager and come up with my service fee, which is going to be quite decent.”
