Jay Shetty detailed his nightmare proposal to his wife Radhi Devlukia-Shetty after everything imaginable went horribly wrong – including 'getting into a fight'.

The podcast star, 35, tied the knot with the vegan chef and online influencer, 32, back in 2016 and the pair have enjoyed many happy years in the spotlight.

But it was a few years back that everything almost collapsed when Jay popped the question about what he had hoped was a romantic experience for his future wife.

He explained everything in a new interview on today's episode of The Talk on CBS, telling the panel of his plans for a "big extravagant proposal".

Jay said he wanted to make the occasion a big one because that is what he had previously "seen on TV, in the movies and on Instagram ".

Talking viewers through the build-up, he said: "So we were walking on the bank of the River Thames in London and out of nowhere someone surprises her with a bouquet of flowers.

"Then out of nowhere a cappella group jumps out and sings Bruno Mars Marry You and I get down on one knee and I propose to her, thankfully she said yes, and we were both crying."

Everything was seemingly going well for the happy couple as they headed for Jay's planned meal at a posh restaurant overlooking the iconic river.

"The restaurant wouldn't let me have the table so I had to negotiate a bit and a bit of, you know, a bit of a fight," he explained – admitting some confrontation.

Jay added: "Then the food arrived and it was really cold and it didn't taste so great so we were both left just sitting there, being polite.

"And then we walk around the corner after dinner and there's this white horse-drawn carriage waiting to take us around the city of London."

Things appeared to be on the up for Jay and Radhi as the pair left their horse and carriage, climbing onto a train to meet Radhi's parents.

"They already knew it was going to happen but we wanted to go celebrate with them," Jay explained. "So, we're on the way to her parent's house and we get back home."

"Her parents open the door and they look at her and go 'what happened? Are you ok?'. That was the night I found out my wife was allergic to horses," he said.

Detailing the gruesome affects his romantic ordeal had on Radhi due to her allergies, Jay admitted: "She had hives all over her face and her neck."
