Shalisha James-Davis celebrated being one-year cancer free as she headed out with her closest friends.

The actress who plays Nurse Paige Allcott in BBC One's medical drama, Casualty, has been open about her journey with her social media followers and even vlogged her experience.

Now, the star whose character also had a close encounter with cancer on the show last year has taken to social media to reveal that she has been given the one-year all-clear.

The star said she was initially misdiagnosed and her Mucinous cancer was not believed to be what it was.

In view of her 2,600 followers, she announced that she was one year clear and made the most of her celebrations

"Have you ever seen a babe more excited about cake? 1 year cancer free babyyy," she said alongside a string of celebration emojis.

Her post which has racked up hundreds of likes was soon flooded with comments with cancer activist Lauren Mahon penning: "YAAAAAAAY."

"So you should be excited, you are an absolute legend," commented another.

Before a third person typed: "Glad you enjoyed it! Deserving of all the joy."

Her Casualty co-star Charles Venn commented a clapping emoji and a red heart.

Shalisha previously explained to her followers that battling cancer at any age "sucks" but in your 20s, it's even worse and is "something particularly difficult to navigate."

Earlier this year, she explained that in May 2022 she was diagnosed with Mucinous ovarian cancer – a rare form of the disease, with just 200 people a year being diagnosed.

However, while her character on-screen may have had a cancer scare, Shalisha made the decision to keep her diagnosis a secret as she explained she "wanted to focus on treatment" and "get through it".

In a YouTube video, Shalisha said: "When I was going through my treatment, before and after diagnosis, it felt like I was running against wind, just pushing through.

"Once my blood came back clear and there was no visible Mucinous cancer, yay, it was like the wind had stopped and I had kind of crashed.

"It was almost like I stood up and I didn't know where I was, I didn't know how to walk now without the wind pressing against me."

In August of 2022, her character Paige was struggling with the disease as she was preparing to find out if she had the breast cancer gene.

Following Paige's mum passing away from cancer, she was at a higher risk and tested for the Braca gene, which she tested positive for.
