Jonathan Majors appeared in court on Tuesday morning via a Zoom link as the actor faces charges of assault and harassment.

The case, which took place in a lower Manhattan courtroom, was automatically set six weeks ago after Majors' initial court appearance.

The judge discussed a motion filed by Majors' defense team, which the prosecution must respond to by May 23. The defense will then have until May 31 to send back their own response.

Following that, Majors must appear in court in person on June 13, when a decision regarding the motion will be made. A warrant for his arrest within 48 hours will be issued if the Marvel actor fails to turn up.

According to Variety, the judge told Majors: "I obviously don’t want that to happen, so just stay in touch with your attorney."

The judge is also said to have reiterated to Majors that he cannot have any contact with the alleged victim.

Majors, 33, was charged in March after being arrested for reportedly assaulting a woman following a domestic dispute.

Reports claimed the unnamed woman told officers at the time she had been assaulted and taken to hospital with "minor injuries to her head and neck".

A representative for Majors has continued to deny any wrongdoing by the actor, who intends to try to clear his name.

In a statement to the Associated Press, the rep said: "We look forward to clearing his name and clearing this up.

His criminal defense lawyer Priya Chaudhry added at the time: "We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently."

They have claimed there is footage from the vehicle in which the incident is said to have taken place which will help his case.

Chaudhry added in a statement last month: "Jonathan Majors is innocent and has not abused anyone. We have provided irrefutable evidence to the District Attorney that the charges are false. We are confident that he will be fully exonerated."

The actor was reportedly dropped by his management team last month following the arrest.

A source claimed Entertainment 360 decided to part ways "due to issues surrounding the actor's personal behaviour".
