Conor McGregor offers support to UFC rival Henry Cejudo after Twitter feud

Conor McGregor has told Henry Cejudo to "dust it off and come back" after his UFC loss to Aljamain Sterling this past weekend.

Cejudo, 36, fought for the first time in three years when he challenged bantamweight champion Sterling at UFC 288 but came up short by losing a split decision. McGregor and Cejudo had ignited a feud before the event having traded words on social media for several months, with Cejudo even vowing to change weight class to secure a fight against the Irishman.

McGregor gloated after Cejudo's defeat by revealing he placed a winning bet on the former two-weight champion to lose his fight, posting a video of his new designer buys with the winnings. In a recent vlog on his YouTube channel, Cejudo could be seen laughing at McGregor's tweet and McGregor has now responded to his rival by writing: “Haha my pleasure! Good fight. Dust it off and come back. God bless”

'Notorious' refuted claims about Cejudo being one of the greatest UFC fighters of all-time following his loss to Sterling. After insisting his winning bet on Sterling was the "easiest money" he ever made, McGregor wrote: "Good little fighter is Henry but give it a rest with these agendas all the time. The guy is sub 20 fights in his career. His little feints an' all ahaha omg please teach me mastermind lol. Done the splits like a stripper and got dumped on his a** he did hahaha oh lord it's tasty."

'Triple C' then hit back by replying: "Hey [Conor McGregor]. Your grappling is so bad you can’t even submit a clean urine sample. I’ve seen more intimidating men on a can of Bud Light." Cejudo's dig comes in light of McGregor's absence of a USADA drug test despite being pencilled in to fight Michael Chandler later this year. McGregor's status in the anti-doping testing pool remaining unconfirmed, though there is no evidence to suggest of any wrongdoing.

Cejudo has already opened the door to a fight against Sterling's teammate and top bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili in August. Dvalishvili is currently on a nine-fight win streak, tied for the longest in the division along with Sterling, but he is refusing to fight the champion due to their friendship.
