A seven-year-old boy who became separated from his parents near a Tesco in a city centre has been found.

Joshua was last seen in Birmingham city centre near the Tesco Express supermarket by Moor Street Station at around 6pm.

Police have launched crucial appeal to locate the youngster, who was wearing a black fur trimmed coat, a black cap, black trousers and black and white Nike trainers today.

West Midlands Police, which said Joshua was on a shopping trip with his family when he became separated, shared a photograph of the child on social media.

At 8.37pm, they tweeted: "#Goodnews. #Missing seven-year-old Joshua has been found safe and well. Thank you all for your concern and for sharing our appeal."

A spokesman for West Midlands Constabulary originally said: "#MISSING | Have you seen seven-year-old Joshua?

"He became separated from his parents in #Birmingham city centre near Carrs Lane Tesco just after 6pm today.

"We have officers out looking for him and need your help if you have seen him.

"He’s wearing a black fur trimmed coat, a black cap, black trousers and black and white Nike trainers.

"If you can help call 999 quoting log 3398 of 8/5."
