She wrote online on Friday: “Lauren is still recovering from the brain surgery and thanks everyone for their good wishes and prayers."

The latest update comes several weeks after Katy had revealed Lauren had undergone surgery and was in hospital.

She had shared a tweet earlier in the month with a photo of Lauren and a caption reading: "Lauren has woken up after her brain surgery. They had to shave her hair.

"As you know this is Lauren's worst nightmare but she would have died if not. The amazing staff in the Heath Hospital have been wonderful.

The post stated: “Yesterday they moved Lauren back to recovery, she is under close watch. She still has memory issues and confusion.

“The doctors say that she does not need another operation atm they are taking it day by day.”

It is still not exactly known what kind of condition or medical issue Lauren is suffering from.

Lauren herself had tweeted just three days previously, where she candidly gave followers an insight into her transition from being male to female.

She tweeted at the time: “22 years ago I had no outside influences telling me to become a woman, I just knew I was.

“I searched for help. My doctor couldn't help me, trans people were an enigma.

“So to worried parents I suggest that one cannot be sold into having these life changing expensive operations.”

The star was born in 1978 and has two older siblings and was, herself, a child star having appeared as an antiques expert on TV in the 1980s.

She initially thought she was gay, but in her 20s realised she identified as transgender and underwent gender reassignment surgery when she was 23.
