Labour’s offer isn’t yet exciting or a deal clincher, leaving work ahead for the party to show voters how it would improve their lives.

But the UK Conservatives are demonstrating that governments lose elections more than oppositions win them.

Household energy bills that were typically £1,200 at the start of last year soaring to £3,000 this Spring from £2,500 will be another nail in the Tory coffin.

They were never a party of economic competence yet once could pretend to be. No longer.

The NHS ailing and sleaze will be major election issues.

Rancid Tories will play migrant and trans cards, as they often do.

But when it comes down to pounds and pence they’ll pay the price for making voters poorer. To clinch a decisive victory Labour would have to stop playing safe.

Offering real change rather than focusing on reassurance.

However we cut it, though, all the polls pointing to the Conservatives losing credibility and votes for treating people as stupid on the economy.
