The PS Plus Essential free games lineup is typically revealed on the last Wednesday of the prior month, so here's exactly when you can expect Sony to reveal what games will be arriving next month.

Update: The PS Plus Essential May 2023 free games have now been officially announced

The final week of the PS Plus Essential April 2023 games lineup is upon us, and PS Plus Essential subscribers have seven more days to download this month's titles, including Sackboy: A Big Adventure and the sadistic base-building title Meet Your Maker. With PS Plus April 2023 coming to a close, we're already eager to see what games will be included in the PS Plus May 2023 Essential games lineup when it launches next week, on Tuesday, May 2.

Sony usually posts the lineup on the PlayStation Blog website, but we occasionally get some early looks, either from leaks or official announcements. For example we already know that Humanity – the latest game from Tetris Effect developer Enhance Games – will arrive on PS Plus day one for Extra and Premium subscribers. However, we have no hints or leaks to go off of this month.

When are the PS Plus May 2023 Essential games revealed

The PS Plus May 2023 Essential games lineup will be officially revealed today, April 26 at 4.30pm BST / 11:30am EDT / 8:30am PDT via a post on the PlayStation Blog. The trio of games revealed will then be available for download next week on Tuesday, May 2 at 10am BST / 5am EDT / 2am PDT.

PS Plus May 2023 Essential games predictions

While no games have been officially confirmed, that hasn't stopped players from speculating over what's arriving on the service and we've got a few predictions we can share. In May 2022 we got FIFA 22 as a part of the PS Plus Essential games lineup; perhaps we could see a repeat this year with FIFA 23 arriving on the service. It would be a fitting farewell as it will be the final FIFA game from EA before EA Sports FC releases later this year.

Meanwhile the top suggestion in the r/PlayStationPlus monthly prediction thread over on Reddit is SloClap's Kung-Fu brawler Sifu, which arrived on Xbox systems last month. Other popular guesses are Alan Wake Remastered, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, and Sekiro (although the latter two are popular choices every month, so I wouldn't get my hopes up).

Our final prediction is at least one of the games will be from the PS Plus Collection which is set to be axed in May. Perhaps Capcom's Monster Hunter: World, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, or one of the huge RPG's like Fallout 4 or Final Fantasy 15 Royal Edition to help players come to terms with losing access to the PS Plus collection. We'll find out for sure later today when Sony gives us the official word.
