You could get paid to live on a beautiful but very remote island, if you can handle the isolation.

That's because the island of Rona, which sits between the Isle of Skye and the west coast of mainland Scotland, currently has an opening for an estates worker.

If you land the job you can bring your partner along - and you'll double the Hebridian island's population, which is currently two.

Duties on the island include keeping up the properties there so holidaymakers can continue to visit Rona.

Applicants will also need to be pretty handy as part of the job includes looking after machinery such as boats and diggers.

Being a friendly face and point of contact for tourists there to enjoy the peace and quiet and deer stalking is also a requirement.

So too is an ability to handle intense isolation on the island, which can only be accessed via private boat, and "process venison".

"This is an exciting opportunity for successful applicants to help develop & contribute to the island’s future," the job advert reads.

"The position is for a full-time estate worker to take over a number of responsibilities and enable the manager to concentrate on specific projects with part-time work for a partner.

"Successful applicants will be able to fulfil a variety of roles including estate and property maintenance and management, housekeeping, logistics, and assisting with deer management, stalking and venison processing.

"The island is off grid and has solar panels, generators and inverters, a significant amount of equipment including boats, digger, and machinery, and a variety of properties, all of which need to be maintained.

"Applicants must be competent or willing to learn the skills to manage and maintain the above."

The application adds: "A salary package, including accommodation in a beautiful location with outstanding views of the sea, will be commensurate with qualifications and experience."

Island Manager at Ardochy & Rona Estate Bill Cowie said: "We’re looking for an enthusiastic Estate Worker and partner who will really throw themselves into our island life and outdoor work.

"Someone just like the island itself – self-sufficient, resilient and perhaps a little rugged.

"The island is our home and living, and we know the right candidate will fall in love with it just as we have."
