Wild swimmers and sand castle makers alike may want to head to the UK's warmest beach this spring to make the most of the improving weather.

Now that the clocks have jumped forward and the April weather is slowly thawing the country after a long winter, a day trip to the beach doesn't seem out of the question.

While some hardened cold water paddlers have been splashing around in the surf and enduring the seaside drizzle already this year, most of us need to mercury to rise a little before a coastal trip seems appealing.

If plenty of sand and warm weather is what you're after, then a trip to Camber Sands may be in order, according to analysis by Parkdean Resorts.

The East Sussex beach gets the warmest the quickest once spring has arrived, regularly reaching temperatures of 19C this month.

Not only does it enjoy the mildest weather, it boasts beautiful shore pines and rolling hill views, making it a dead ringer for the Nehalem Bay in Oregon.

There are also miles of sand dunes that are enormous fun to run up and jump down, as well as the lovely town of Rye just down the road, where the chippies and high end charity shops are plentiful.

Dungeness Beach in the adjoining county of Kent is the second warmest with temperatures of 18.6C.

The coastal area is an intriguing one that can feel vast and overwhelming due to the great stretches of flatlands that run up to its beaches and the now decommissioned nuclear power station.

Dungeness is regularly visited by groups of touring bikers there to enjoy the unique vistas and renowned work of famed garden artists Derek Jarman.

Studland in Shell Bay, Dorset comes in at third place, with spring temperatures which reach 18.1C.

The south coast location makes a beautiful spot for a pre-summer staycation, with a beach partly owned by the National Trust and a sense of wilderness due to an stretch that is a protected nature reserve.

Kynance Cove in Cornwall is a little cooler in the spring months at 16.6C, but no less beautiful.

The eco-friendly patch of coastline boasts turquoise waters and white sands that can make you feel as if you've been transported to the Dominican Republic, albeit while holding a pasty.

Here you can enjoy crashing waves, breath-taking white sands and fantastic scenic views before heading to the iconic Minack Theatre to finish the day with a seaside play.

Porthcurno Beach, which rounds off the top five UK beaches to get warmest, the fastest.

Here you can enjoy temperatures of up to 16.1°C, surrounded by breathtaking white sands and fantastic scenic views.
