Flight carrying First Lady Jill Biden diverted mid-air due to 'aircraft issue'
A flight carrying US First Lady Jill Biden has been forced to divert due to an "aircraft issue" in a mid-air drama.
She had been on her way to Michigan as part of a whirlwind tour of four states but after running into difficulty the pilot chose to divert back to Denver, Colorado.
Her press secretary said the trip to Michigan will be postponed.
Vanessa Valdivia, press secretary to the wife of US President Joe Biden, wrote on Twitter: "Due to an aircraft issue en route Michigan, the First Lady was diverted back to Denver, Colorado. Her trip to Michigan will be postponed to a later date."

Dr Biden had set off to make a two-day, four state visit as part of the President Biden administration’s “Investing in America” tour.
The first lady planned to tavel to Colorado and Michigan today followed by stops in Maine and Vermont on Wednesday to promote the Biden Administration's effort to invest in America.
Political pundits see it as a trial run to see how Dr Biden could perform in a 2024 election campaign.
Ms Valdivia later tweeted: "Everyone is safe. We’re back on the ground in Denver."

Both Republican and Democratic lawmakers were on hand for the visit.
While in Denver she said she had visited many times before and that she “loves this state.”
According to an official previewing her remarks, during the trip she is expected to emphasise “President Biden and his administration are creating millions of jobs in infrastructure, clean energy, and manufacturing. These positions pay well. And many of them require associate degrees, certificates, or other hands-on instruction, not four years of college."

According to sources, the US president is expected to send a delegation to the event in a bid to avoid the perception of a snub.

Not much is known about which high-profile representative will be selected to attend, however it is thought that First Lady Jill Biden may go in her husband’s place.
Invitees to the ceremony, which will take place on May 6, have already been sent “save the date” emails from Buckingham Palace, with a request to RSVP to the palace.
