Manchester United and Crystal Palace have both been hit with an FA charge after a mass brawl during their Premier League clash on Saturday.

All 20 on-field players were involved in the ruckus, which occurred late on in the second half of the Red Devils' 2-1 win at Old Trafford. Man United's Casemiro appeared to put his hands around Palace midfielder Will Hughes' throat during the brawl and was shown a straight red card for his actions.

Both clubs must now pay a fine for failing to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour.

Man United also allegedly failed to ensure its players refrained from violent behaviour.

The FA statement read: "Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have been charged following a mass confrontation between their players in the 67th minute of the Premier League fixture on Saturday 4 February 2013.

"It's alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour, and it's also alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players refrained from violent behaviour.

"Manchester United FC and Crystal Palace FC have until Monday 13 February 2023 to respond."

Erik ten Hag's Man United looked set to make light work of Patrick Vieira's Eagles when Bruno Fernandes' early penalty and a close-range Marcus Rashford goal had his side cruising to victory, only for Casemiro’s sending-off to make for an uncomfortable ending at Old Trafford.

Jeffrey Schlupp, whose shove on Antony led to the melee in which the Brazil star appeared to throttle Hughes, pulled one back but Ten Hag's 10 men dug deep to see out a 2-1 win.
