Casualty fans fume 'Robyn deserved better' after character's funeral is shunned

Casualty viewers were disappointed that the show "skimmed" over fan-favourite Robyn Miller's death.

Robyn, played by Amanda Henderson, left viewers in tears after she died in a fatal road accident last week.

There was a long wait to get her into the theatre and surgeons were unable to save her life.

Charlie Fairhead, played by Derek Thompson, proceeded to break down when he saw her body and had to face her devastated family.

Over the weekend, fans were ready to witness a funeral for the loved character but were left completely enraged to find out it happened off-screen during the episode on Saturday.

Her memorial was barely mentioned and fans rushed to social media to question the decision.

"Please tell me they’re not just skimming past Robyn’s funeral #casualty," one user said.

Another upset fan posted: "So we’re not getting an on-screen funeral for Robyn then... #Casualty."

"An offscreen funeral for a character of 10 years? Robyn deserved better," one viewer commented on social media.

Some people thought Robyn didn't get an on-screen funeral as her former co-stars couldn't make it back.

One fan guessed: "I knew we wouldn’t get to see Robyn’s funeral on screen, there are SO many characters who have left who would’ve went to her funeral and they probably didn’t want to try and explain why all the characters weren’t there."

After watching her death play out on screen last week, fans went to praise the show and the NHS.

"I hope every single person who has any say in funding our NHS has watched #Casualty tonight and takes it seriously. Yes, the specific stories are fiction but they illustrate reality," one user said.

"The wonderful, gentle, caring people who work in our NHS deserve so much better. As do patients."

Another posted: "Havent watched #casualty in years and years but happened to watch tonight an it’s got me in tears - the saddest thing is that it’s reflective of what's happening in the UK right now and it’s frightening."
