Brian Cox revealed he hid under the covers after he heard a chair "rocking" across the room in a supernatural encounter.

The 76-year-old recounted the spooky story from his younger years when he was staying in Edinburgh.

"I was a young actor, I was in Edinburgh. I went to bed one night," he said.

"There was a chair right next to the dresser. Suddenly there is this rocking sound and the chair started to rock across the room.

"And then it stopped there. I got myself right under my covers."

The latest and last instalment of the HBO show follows the dysfunctional Roy family as they fight for control of their father’s empire.

Earlier this year, the show's creator Jesse Armstrong revealed the series is coming to an end.

He explained how he decided it was time to wrap things up and write a conclusion to the complicated drama surrounding a media dynasty, and admits he felt 'a bit tortured' during the process of officially ending things.

The show, which has won numerous awards and accolades since premiering in June 2018, returns on Sunday.

Discussing what made him decide it was time to end Succession, creator Jesse recalls: "It’s been a bit tortured, and I felt unexpectedly nervous about talking to you, because it’s all theoretical until this point, and I have tried to keep it theoretical for a whole number of reasons.

"Who knows about the psychological reasons, but the creative ones were that it felt really useful to not make the final, final decision for ages."

He went on to explain to The New Yorker how the end had "always been kind of present in my mind" and since the second series, he started wondering if it was time to call it a day.

The Jonathan Ross Show airs on Saturdays at 9.40pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
