A man was left hospitalised with a head wound after he was allegedly viciously attacked by a gang of teenage girls.

Police are appealing for information following the attack which involved four girls, described as aged in their mid to late teens.

The group are said to have caused chaos on a South London bus last summer, attacking a passenger with a bottle and beating another with a crutch.

Police released CCTV images of the suspects today in an effort to identify the gang and officers are asking for witnesses to come forward.

The four teens struck a woman on board in the head with a bottle as the bus passed through Croydon, MyLondon reports.

A man sitting next to the female victim was then allegedly attacked with a crutch, leaving him in need of hospital treatment for a head injury.

The victims were sitting at the rear of the top deck of the bus when the four girls boarded and sat behind them.

The victims attempted to move after the woman was hit by a bottle, but the girls are said to have followed them before attacking the male passenger.

After the attack, the group of girls got off the bus.

The incident is said to have happened on the 250 bus from Streatham to Croydon at half-past midnight on August 28, 2022 while it was in the vicinity of Brigstock Road, Thornton Heath.

Police are now urging anyone who recognises the people in the images or who has information that could assist police to call 101 or tweet @MetCC and quote CAD235/28Aug2022.

Meanwhile a London bus driver reportedly had enough of his job and walked out, leaving a bus full of passengers with the engine running while he went to get a coffee, an employment tribunal heard.

Ian Brown was driving the 243 route from Waterloo to Wood Green when the incident happened.

CCTV then showed Mr Brown, who was already under caution for poor attendance, running a red light as he was distracted reading a letter inviting him to a disciplinary hearing.
