Hairdresser leaves people baffled with unusual washing technique for extensions
Keeping on top of long hair can be a bit of an ordeal, especially when you've got lengthy hair extensions to take care of. Fortunately, there are ways to get a fresh look on the sly, even on days when you really don't have the time or energy for a full wash.
Hairdresser Emily Reed, who regularly shares content about all things hair and beauty, recently uploaded a TikTok video demonstrating her top 'cheat wash' tip, remarking, 'only my extension girlies will understand the pain of a full wash'.
Rather than put herself through the stress of giving her extensions a thorough scrub, Emily just washes the very top of her scalp on days when a complete wash is just out of the question.
In the clip, Emily - who has 150g of tape extensions - can be seen leaning over a sink, having scraped the lower half of her hair back with a bobble. She then proceeds to wash just the top part of her hair with purple shampoo, leaving the rest completely dry.
The vid, which was shared via Emily's TikTok account @emilyyjade_x, has clocked up more than 35.5K likes and counting, with many fellow extensions fans relating to her plight all too well.

Another agreed they would do 'anything to avoid fully washing and doing a three to four hour dry', while a third sympathised that they 'felt this too much'.
Even those without extensions were keen to give the hack a whirl, with a fourth person commenting: "Okay, but top head is genius. I don’t even have extensions and I’m going to try this."
Tape extensions are among the most popular types of extensions, but can be tricky to maintain. According to the Glam Seamless hair extensions website, you should make sure to brush your extensions with a special hair extension brush, and should never sleep with them in if they're still wet.
