Katie Price has hit back at critics who slammed her for getting hair extensions despite being declared bankrupt.

The former glamour model, 45, faced criticism from online trolls who said she shouldn't be getting her hair done if she is "skint". Katie was declared bankrupt back in 2019, with debts reaching £3.5million. She took to her TikTok account to do a live stream with fans as she got her hair done, but some fans accused the mum-of-five of lying about her financial situation.

As she tried to show off her new hair extensions - estimated to cost roughly £6,000 - Katie fired back at the speculation. She fumed: "We've all been there, yeah exactly don't knock people, I don't. You should never knock anybody that tries to make money to support their family and their kids.

"I have to run the house, if you think about it I've got 5 kids, I run the house, the animals, like it's an expensive thing having kids, you know all the food shopping, the heating, everything, and I'm trying to work and do everything. And so what if I want to sit in my kitchen and get my hair done, but you get d*******s out there who go 'urgh are you skint?'"

Katie added: "Well what are you doing, are you sitting there, the people who say that, no. Whatever job you do out there, it's a job and who cares. A job is a job, money is money." Last month Katie vowed to "bring back her empire" as she attended her bankruptcy hearing.

It was previously reported Katie could be asked to sell her Sussex home, nicknamed the Mucky Mansion, in order to meet her debts if they see fit. Katie paid £1.3m for the sprawling property around nine years ago, the home – which Katie was seen revamping in a Channel 4 series after it fell in disrepair – is now said to be worth around £2m.

A considerable amount of the £3.265m is owed for mortgages secured against her Mucky Mansion The Mirror exclusively revealed Katie has put the eight-bedroom home up for rent for a whopping £6,000 per month. However, it seems issues with the house like a mouldy bathroom and Katie previously admitting the property is haunted has put prospective residents off – with an insider revealing to the Mirror the listing hasn't "even had a nibble".

In July, a court hearing – in which Katie or a legal representative for the TV star did not attend – was told Miss Price had breached a payment agreement made, the applicant's barrister, Darragh Connell, said. Katie previously agreed to pay £12,000 a month through an individual voluntary arrangement but, her creditors claimed she had not been sticking to the deal.

While in September, the Mirror reported forensic investigators were probing how Katie funds her lavish lifestyle. The bankruptcy unit would examine if she has secret bank accounts to funnel her earnings and deals with photographic agencies. A source said: “There is going to be no stone left unturned, as they try to ascertain what is going on with her finances.”

Last year the TV personality went on 14 holidays, and has already enjoyed several luxury trips this year. Katie has said being declared bankrupt was “not the end of the world”. She added: “I think it’s quite good I am in a bankruptcy – it’s made me re-evaluate things. Everything in my life is now in place, never be embarrassed about being in a bankruptcy.”

Her current bankruptcy case is delayed until 2024. Katie attended a virtual hearing in September where she was due to lay bare her financial situation. But the judge admitted he was losing control of proceedings due to other people on the video call. Katie claimed members of the public were taking screenshots of her to “sl** me off” on gossip sites.
