Schoolgirl smashed in the face after boy 'donkey kicks' toilet door open
A furious mum expressed her anger after her daughter was left hurt when a boy kicked open a toilet door at school, injuring her forehead.
Gemma Brennan said a boy "donkey kicked" open the door during an incident at her daughter's school in Wyken, Coventry.
The mum, 40, told CoventryLive: “She went into the cubicles and one boy kept donkey kicking the door. It hit her on the arm and then he did it again and it smashed her right in the face.”
The incident occurred at Caludon Castle School on February 28 and left Gemma's daughter with a cut on her forehead.
She claimed issues began after the school introduced unisex toilets, but that complaints by some parents had been ignored.

Gemma's daughter also hurt her arm (Gemma Brennan/BPM MEDIA)Gemma said: “It is an ongoing problem at that school, there are unisex toilets so girls and boys have to share and the boys go in and take photos of the girls, kick the doors down and there are no locks on the doors so they are going over to the cubicles to take photos and videos which is a massive concern.”
The concerned mum said there are now no locks remaining on the doors after being broken off and girls like Gemma's daughter risk being disciplined for using the toilets at quieter times during the day.
“What my daughter is doing is she is waiting until it is nearly lesson time to go to the toilet so there are no boys there, and she goes to the lessons late and then gets a detention for it,” the mum added.

"I have had so many parents come to me since they found out about this saying their sons are scared to go to the toilets, and they will not go to the toilets all day because they are frightened that they will get accused of doing something to the girls."
Since the incident, Gemma said her daughter had not returned to school for fear of being ridiculed.
Children "were laughing at her and bullying her because of this big mark on her head," she explained.
A spokesperson for Caludon Castle School said: “The safety and well-being of our students is the school’s number one priority, and we are extremely concerned by last week’s incident.
"This behaviour is extremely rare in our school. There are two sets of unisex toilets in the school and the others are single-sex. The unisex toilets are supervised at break and lunchtimes.
“All of the unisex toilets have a lock on them and each of the doors are floor to ceiling in height to ensure privacy. The hand washing area is open plan to ensure easy supervision.

"The student responsible for this incident has been sanctioned and we have been in regular contact with the parent of the injured student, who has told us she is happy with the actions we have taken.”
