Gemma Arterton gives birth to her first child with Peaky Blinders actor husband

Gemma Arterton became a mum in December after welcoming her first child with husband Rory Keenan.

The actress, 36, who shot to fame in James Bond flick Quantum of Solace, shares a son with the Peaky Blinders actor, 42, who she married in secret in 2019.

Rocking up at Zoe Ball's Radio 2 Breakfast Show today, Gemma looked sensational in a pink satin dress, matching coat and stilettos.

Telling Zoe her lovely news, she gushed: "We are very, very happy, he was born just before Christmas. A little Christmas elf."

The presenter complimented the new mum on how well she looked, with Gemma insisting it was the "power of the paintbrush".

Gemma announced her pregnancy back in November at the Raindance Film Festival awards when she showed off her blossoming baby bump.

She previously said she was unsure about having kids, telling The Times in 2013: "I don't think you can ever plan the right, exact time.

"I don't feel ready for kids because I want to know that I can come back and still be valuable to the industry.

"That's only going to happen when I feel a little bit more accomplished... or at least when I've accomplished something of which I'm proud."

Gemma has had a stellar career since making her debut in Quantum of Solace in which she played Bond girl, Strawberry.

However, the actress admitted she was criticised by some for taking on the iconic role, telling The Sun : "At the beginning of my career, I was poor as a church mouse and I was happy just to be able to work and earn a living.

"I still get criticism for accepting Quantum Of Solace, but I was 21, I had a student loan, and you, know, it was a Bond film.

"But as I got older I realised there was so much wrong with Bond women. Strawberry should have just said no, really, and worn flat shoes."

Gemma went on to star in a number of productions including St Trinian's, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Kingsman: The Secret Service and Clash Of The Titans.

She also played the titular role in BBC's Tess of the D'Urbervilles in 2008, telling us the role was 'the highlight of her career so far'.

Gemma is is currently promoting her new gig Sky series Funny Woman, where she plays a beauty queen seeking TV fame.

In the sitcom, which is based on the novel by Nick Hornby, Gemma's Barbara Parker is a regional beauty queen (Miss Blackpool), who moves to London in search of TV fame.
