Rob Beckett appears to have swapped comedy for the singing stage, according to ITV's Starstruck fans who were convinced he was on the programme.

Each week, contestants take to the stage as they're transformed into their favourite singers in front of judges Shania Twain, Beverly Knight, Adam Lambert and Jason Manford.

Those hoping to win a large sum of £50,000 battle it out against one another in four teams in a bid to walk away with the huge prize.

But as one hopeful, Lee Brady appeared on stage as rock god Jon Bon Jovi, viewers at home believed that famous comedian Rob Beckett had hoped to launch a new career.

"Never mind Jon Bon Jovi, this geezer on Starstruck looks like Rob Beckett's doppelgänger," commented a fourth.

Shortly after the episode aired, the singer behind the frenzy took to Twitter said: "Told you on the night I looked like @robbeckettcomic. It's all have had all night. Thanks for the comments and for being a legend. Lee #teambonjovi."

During the most recent episode which aired on Saturday night, judge Jason proudly wore a map of his hometown, Manchester on his suit.

Comic Jason revealed that he had decided to give students the opportunity to design his suit, rather than wearing a well-known branded outfit.

His bespoke suit was designed by Katie Butler, a student at the University of Creative Arts in Rochester, Kent.

Sharing the news on Twitter, Jason said: "Rather than going with the famous (and super expensive) designer suits every week on Starstruck I had another idea. Why not give the opportunity to hard-working fashion students to design and make suits for the telly?

"So tonight is the first one, Katie Butler a third-year BA fashion and design student at the University of the Creative Arts, Rochester. I loved the job she did, she certainly wears her heart on her sleeve."

But he was keen to shut down any speculation he may have received the suits for free and added: "And yes of course I paid them for the suits. Not going to have a load of students out of pocket am I?"
