Manchester United midfielder Fred insists the Red Devils fear no-one - and that it’s Liverpool who should be running scared at Anfield.

The Brazilian midfielder feels that confidence is sky-high in Erik ten Hag’s squad after winning the Carabao Cup, progressing in the FA Cup and Europa League, and storming up the Premier League. United face their toughest test with a meeting against their biggest rivals and a team that must win to boost their own chances of a top-four finish.

But Fred, who scored United’s third goal in the 3-1 FA Cup win over West Ham in midweek, reckons the Red Devils are gunning for a treble this season.

He said: “We have a good squad, a good team and Ten Hag has brought a different mentality, so we feel we can beat every team. Now, they all respect us instead of us worrying about them.

“We have one way to play, we know that and everyone in the dressing room knows it. That’s a good way to go. We have played a lot of good games with this group and need to keep that going.

“We know Liverpool are a good team and difficult to play and we are going step by step - but we can win every game. We just need to keep it going. We believe we can win two or three trophies this season.”

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw knows Manchester United need to be winning matches like Sunday's against rivals Liverpool if they are to challenge for the title.

Erik ten Hag's men return to Premier League action after securing key victories in the Europa League and FA Cup which sandwiched last weekend's Carabao Cup triumph. United enter the weekend third in the standings and 11 points behind Arsenal, albeit with a game in hand on Mikel Arteta's leaders.

A first Premier League title in a decade looks a big ask with 14 matches to play, with Shaw and Co. heading to Merseyside knowing they need a first Anfield win since 2016.

"They're always big, big games," the long-serving United left-back said of the North-West Derby. "I think if we want to be challenging for the title, I think we need to be going there and winning these games.

"But, of course, on the other hand, we know it's going to be an extremely tough game. They're always a tough game against Liverpool. They're an amazing side, a really good side and I think it's going to be a good game."
