No Sunday dinner is complete without perfect, golden roast potatoes. But how do you make sure your roasties stay soft and fluffy inside but crisp outside? You need to follow a few simple steps, according to Jamie Oliver.

Keen to help out the nation, the celebrity chef has taken to TikTok to share how to prepare the 'perfect roast potato' - and it turns out there's a little-known step most of us forget.

Thankfully, the pro included a demonstration, and you're going to want to pay attention after seeing the mouth-watering results.

The chef also praised the '11/10' recipe as a great budget-friendly meal. If you want to enjoy similar roast potatoes, start by parboiling your peeled spuds in salted, boiling water.

Then cook them for about ten minutes, as per his recommendation, before pouring the potatoes into a colander. Next, add a tablespoon of oil and a swig of red wine vinegar before shaking your colander.

"Look what I'm doing. See how I've beaten that up?" the chef explains.

He continues: "So I'm gonna cook these in an oven at about 180/190, which is about 350 Fahrenheit, over the period of about 50 minutes."

But don't hang your oven gloves up once you've followed these instructions, as there's another important step. After 40 minutes, you'll want to take the tray out of the oven and 'pop' the potatoes with a masher, as the chef does.

"Place the potato masher on top, and then just let it pop and let the lovely starchy inside just puff out. Just do that around the whole tray and then pop it back in for another 10 minutes," he recommends. "Crispy and fluffy."

The result, as captured in the chef's video, might just be too good to put into words. But the recipe clearly went down a treat with fans, who awarded the video 18,000 likes.

"Yummmm! You have the best potatoes Jamie Oliver!" read one reply.

Someone else said "I wanna scran that" while another praised: "Ahhhhh loving them"

Meanwhile, a different commenter revealed: "I always do my potatoes like this, and they're always incredible."
