The world's best beaches according to those who use and love them most have been unveiled.

This year the stunning Baia do Sancho in Fernando de Noronha, Brazil has been named the best-of-the-best by Tripadvisor.

Located on the volcanic island of Fernando de Noronha, just over 200 miles off the coast of Brazil, the beach is just two hours behind the UK.

That makes it the perfect spot for the ambition British digital nomad who is looking to extend their holiday and take advantage of remote working by moving their office to the beach.

The rankings were produced by analysing the tens of millions of reviews submitted by global travellers over the past 12-months, looking at the quality and quantity of ratings for beach experiences.

The way the medium-sized cliffs rise off the sandy expanse of this Portuguese beach lends it a feeling of seclusion and privacy, so it's no surprise that it's regularly hailed one of Portugal's best beaches.

This adds to the family beach of Praia da Falesia, where the perfect sized waves are great for beginners to learn to surf.

One reviewer wrote: “Gorgeous red sand cliffs lead to the green-blue ocean and a white sand beach that seemingly stretches forever.”

7. Radhanagar Beach - Havelock Island, Andaman and Nicobar Islands

“Amazing clear turquoise water, mangrove forests in the background, pristine white sand and not too deep... what's not to like?” asked one holidaymaker.

8. Spiaggia dei Conigli - Lampedusa, Islands of Sicily

This beach is one of the few places in Italy where loggerhead sea turtles lay their eggs, and is strictly off-limits at night, and is regularly tipped as one of Sicily's best beaches.

It's location beneath the Boot and its vibrant blue waters means it doesn't exactly feel like you're in Europe when you're laying out in the sun.

One glowing review reads: “One of the marvels of the world. White sand beach, turquoise water, cooling sea breeze. Prepare for a 20-minute walk to get to the beach, but once you are there you feel like you're not on Earth.”

Getting to Cuba is still not easy due to the difficult relationship the country has with the US, but this beach makes the trek worth it.

You will find yourself sharing the beach with other tourists, but it doesn't get too busy and there are plenty of sunbeds to go around.

“Postcard perfect", wrote one holidaymaker. “The water was the bluest I’ve ever seen and the sand was powdery white".

10. Ka'anapali Beach - Lahaina, Hawaii

No list of the best beaches in the world would be complete without an entry from Hawaii, where the Pacific waves are big and the sands clear.

“Always beautiful. Beautiful ocean, beach, and plenty of walking and snorkelling room. Always our place to find our peace!”

UK beaches

When it comes to homegrown beaches, four stunning UK locations have been named among the 25 most beautiful in the whole of Europe.

Gorleston-on-Sea in Norfolk was judged to be the 12th best beach on the continent. While lesser known than neighbouring beach Great Yarmouth, the three mile sandy stretch was the backdrop to the Richard Curtis film, ‘Yesterday’, has hosted famous faces like Ed Sheeran and Danny Boyle, and has been lavished with praise in online reviews.

One Tripadvisor reviewer remarked “this has to be one of the finest beaches in the UK - and I have visited most."

Weymouth, located on the heart of the Jurassic Coast, climbed five spots this year to secure 14th place in Europe.

The beach is lined by impressive Georgian houses and is a popular destination for sea bathing, having been frequented by King George III during times of illness.

It is followed by surf hot-spot Fistral Beach, Newquay, which re-entered the list this year at number 22 after missing out on a spot in 2022.

Bournemouth Beach is another re-entry for this year coming in at number 24, in no small part due to its sweeping expanse of sand and reputation for getting the best of the British sunshine in the summer.
