An urban explorer has reported hearing creepy disembodied footsteps while inside the abandoned home of a firefighter who is said to haunt the property.

The unnerved explorer said he heard the mysterious footsteps creeping up the staircase while exploring the property in Lancashire.

A National Fires Service uniform dating from the 1960s was found inside the property alongside a faded photograph of the firemen who served alongside the owner in his firehouse.

The National Fire service (NFS) was the single fire service created in Great Britain in 1941 during the Second World War; a separate National Fire Service (Northern Ireland) was created in 1942.

Other mementos of the past are scattered around the house. A piece of history is preserved in the form of a Singer sewing machine sat in the kitchen rusted away at this stage, but is still beautiful.

A variety of family photographs appear to be scattered throughout the home, which still had electric power.

In a photo snapped by the urban explorer a staircase can be seen with mobility aids attached, hinting at how the once-fit firefighter had perhaps been affected by old age.

The owner is said to have died in the house and locals believe he still haunts his old home.

These images were captured by Urban explorer Daniel Sims known as Bearded Reality on Instagram and Youtube.

Daniel was told about the abandoned home in Lancashire by a fellow urban explorer, he found a lifetime of collecting tucked away in the home.

"Not too much is known about the owner except that he worked in the National Fire Service and there are rumors that he passed away in the home leaving all his possessions behind," said Daniel.

"Some locals have told other urban explorers that this is the most haunted place in the area but I didn't meet anyone on my explore.

"At one point we did jump up as we thought we heard footsteps walking up the stairs which confused us.

"The front of the property showed no signs of entry or damage however when we ventured around the back of the property the doors were wide open allowing us to film inside.

"We were at this site for about 90 minutes filming and taking photos while exploring this place.

"The place itself is quite creepy as it was at night so all noises are amplified, which puts you on edge, however we were blown away by what we found here.

"The property is lovely and set in a lovely rural location. Inside the place shows signs of being ransacked at some point where someone has gone looking for valuable items, however the place has so much left behind from the previous owner.

"It is a shame to see the place and what was someone's home left this way.

"We reckon it has been abandoned and left for a good 20-years, however at some point it seems someone moved into one of the houses that is connected to it and started renovating it but this seems like it has been left as well.

"We found lots of old photos of the owners, their life, and the property which I always find interesting and is my favorite part of any explore like this as it makes it more personal.

"However seeing a lot of vintage items and brands that we no longer see is quite a highlight as well.

"My favorite item was definitely the old Firemans outfit which had been left out which is from around the 60's.

"I love sharing lost and forgotten places that most people would not see and bringing places in some form back to life."

The former inhabitant isthought to be a memer of the NFS, created in August 1941 by the amalgamation of the wartime national Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) and the local authority fire brigades (about 1,600 of them).

It existed until 1948, when it was again split by the Fire Services Act 1947, with fire services reverting to local authority control, although this time there were far fewer brigades, with only one per county and county borough.

At peak strength the NFS had 370,000 personnel, including 80,000 women. The women were mostly employed on administrative duties.

The NFS was divided into about forty Fire Forces. These were subdivided into Divisions. Each Division had two Columns and each Column had five Companies.
