Andrew Tate accused by ex of 'strangling her during sex until she fainted'

Andrew Tate has been accused by one of his ex-girlfriends of "slapping and strangling" her during a violent episode of sex.

Tate, 36 has been held in a Romanian prison alongside brother Tristan, 34, since December on suspicion of organised crime and human trafficking. The brothers, who both deny the allegations, will remain locked up until at least February 27 after seeing a second appeal against their detention rejected.

Both men, who claim to have assets seized worth over £3million, were originally detained for 30 days and due for release at the end of January but saw their detentions extended. Whilst leaving court last week, Tate said: "Ask them for evidence and they will give you none, because it doesn’t exist. You’ll find out the truth of this case soon.

An ex-girlfriend of Tate, who is referred to as Sophie to protect her identity, told BBC Radio 4's File on 4 that Tate allegedly strangled her during sex to the point where she lost consciousness. She claims the pair met through Facebook and eventually visited Tate at his home in Bucharest, eventually becoming his girlfriend.

She claims that Tate offered her a job working for his webcam business, telling her she would "make a fortune" if she entertained the offer. Sophie turned down the offer but alleged that Tate tried to gaslight her by saying: "If you love me, you would do it". She admitted that her refusal of the job started to "chip away" at her over time to the point where she thought "maybe he's right".

Sophie eventually changed her mind and started working for Tate's webcam business where she would earn £800 for six hours' work, but claimed that Tate would take half of her earnings. She alleged that the former kickboxing world champion would 'fine' her if she went out without his permission and that he started to become violent when the pair had sex.

"There was some disagreement," she said. "He held me up against the wall and he slapped me really hard and followed it with 'you whore'. He totally lacks any kind of empathy. He is a narcissist, he's like that 100 per cent. I don't think he's emotionally capable of feeling love, for anyone or anything, even his family, even his brother, there's just nothing."

Sophie admitted that she doesn't feel victimised by Tate because she made the decisions on her own accord, adding: "It's very difficult because I don't feel like a victim - all of the choices I made were of my [own] free will. He didn't bundle me up into a bag, throw me in the back of a lorry and drive me there." A spokesperson for Andrew Tate declined to comment to the Daily Mirror.
