If you hate scrubbing out your microwave, then you're in luck as Mrs Hinch fans have shared their top tips for polishing those hard-to-scrub areas.

From the roof to the corners, there's plenty of spots it is easy to miss. But nobody wants the remnants of last week's dinner mixing with their fresh food.

Thankfully, you can leave your microwave gleaming if you temporarily forgot about any messy disasters - and the dried food left behind. One tip that's proven particularly popular among cleaning gurus even comes with the recommendation of a former catering worker, who reckons the method is the 'quickest and best way' going.

So how can you banish those grimy leftover stains? Simply pop a bowl of warm water with sliced lemon in the offending microwave. It works a treat, according to Mrs Hinch fans.

Responding to a question about the topic on Facebook, several members of Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips agreed the method is the way to go.

One commenter said: "Try bowl of warm water with slice lemon. Put on about minute. Then wipe when finished."

A second agreed, suggesting a bowl of water to "steam it off", while someone else revealed: "My friend puts lemon juice in a dish..puts in microwave..turns on about 2 minutes..wipes out with nice soapy water. So simple..I was amazed!"

And a different person added: "Half a lemon in a jug hot water put in the microwave for 5 minutes leave it don't open the door leave it for a few minutes and then open the door."

Another fan of the method said: "Cut half a lemon in to pieces pop inside a jug/bowl of water, put in microwave for about 4mins and wipe away. You may need to repeat depending on how bad it is to start," and someone replied: "This is what we did when I was in catering it was the quickest and best way."

Given lemons are cheap to buy, like in Asda where they are available for just 30p, it is a bargain trick too.

Different advice included using bicarbonate boiled in water or white vinegar mixed with water. Meanwhile, another viewer recommended: "For the future try a microwave cover , Stops all the splashes."
