Calling all Disney fans: there's a brand-new Disney attraction set to open its doors in the UK this spring - but it's aimed at young adults rather than children.

The attraction, titled The Wonder of Friendship: The Experience, is being launched to celebrate Disney's 100th anniversary and will open in London on May 12 and will run until May 21, when it will then move on to Berlin and Paris.

The event features a 1,000 sqm installation with four themed rooms, and guests will be able to use augmented reality (AR) via Snapchat in order to bring the rooms to life with iconic characters from different Disney classics.

The four rooms will be themed around different Disney films and franchises, including Alice in Wonderland, The Lion King, Mickey & Friends, and Lilo & Stitch.

In the Alice and Wonderland-themed room, visitors will be able to follow the rabbit hole and meet with the Queen's Card Guards, while entering the Lilo & Stitch room will see you relax on the beach at Ohana Bay.

The Lion King room will focus on the fan-favourite trio of Simba, Timon, and Pumbaa, and guests will also be able to hang out with AR versions of Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy while checking out the Mickey & Friends room.

Sarah Fox, VP of Marketing & Comms, Disney Consumer Products, EMEA, said: "Throughout our one hundred years, Disney stories have shown the importance of friendship and appreciating the differences in others, so we couldn't think of a better theme to celebrate our milestone anniversary.

"From Alice in Wonderland's flower walkway to Lilo and Stitch's photo frame opportunity, there'll be plenty of social media moments to share with your best friends and relive for years to come."

The attraction is geared toward young adults rather than children, as guests will be encouraged to use their smartphones to bring the scenes to life and share their experiences on social media.

Tickets for the event cost £17.50 per person and are open for general sale on February 9, while H&M members can get early access to buy tickets for the attraction in the UK and France from now until February 8.

News of the new attraction comes as Disneyland Paris is continuing to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year, which will run until the end of September.

And those travelling to the theme park between January 28 and May 8 are in for a treat, as there's a new night-time show at the Walt Disney Studios Park featuring 500 drones performing a light show themed around the Marvel universe.
