Fortnite's Unreal Editor has been delayed again confirms says Epic CEO

Shocking news folks, the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN) has been delayed again and is now targeting a March release.

The new and improved version of Fortnite's Creative mode, which lets players build their own games and islands and share them online, was previously heading for a January release. But it's been pushed back. Responding to a tweet from fan account, @FNCreativeNews anticipating the release of the improved creative mode, Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeny dashed all hopes of us seeing the new mode this side of February, stating: "Sorry, there will be no UEFN in January. We’re now targeting March. "

This suggests that Creative 2.0 may release alongside Fortnite Chapter 4 Season 2, which is believed to be coming on March 11, as Fortnite's Chapter 4 Season 1 Battle Pass ends on March 10.

Epic originally planned to launch the Unreal Editor in December of 2022 before Sweeny popped up on Twitter in November to say the UEFN release had been "delayed to late January", and now he's pulled the same trick again.

What is the UEFN?

The UEFN, also known as the Fortnite Creative 2.0 update, is the next evolution of Fortnite's popular Creative mode. Although little is known about what is included in the editor, Epic's Head, Tim Sweeny, stated during an interview with Fast Company in April last year that Creative 2.0 is being designed "so that anybody can build very high-quality game content and code . . . and deploy it into Fortnite without having to do a deal with us – it’s open to everybody."

Sweeny also confirmed in the same interview that those making content for Fortnite in the improved Creative mode will be able to monetize their creations. He added: Epic "will support creators actually building businesses around their work and making increasing amounts of profit from the commerce that arises from people playing their content."

Meanwhile, notable Fortnite leaker HYPEX tweeted: "The amount of functions that 'Unreal Editor for Fortnite' (Creative 2.0) has is crazy, it makes Creative look basic."
