A terminal at Palm Beach International Airport has been evacuated after a passenger reportedly said he had a bomb in his bag.

Hundreds of people have been seen walking around the airport seeking information after a threat made by a traveller on a Frontier Airlines flight.

Concourse C at Palm Beach International Airport was evacuated after the traveller made the bomb threat on the plane that was due to go to Philadelphia.

The area has been evacuated while it is believed police check two passenger bags, and people were moved to other parts of the airport.

The bags had reportedly gone through two security checkpoints at the airport.

"Apparently, a passenger made an utterance that there was a bomb in his bag(s)," Barbera said in a statement.

Police have reportedly arrested the man who made the threats.

The airport tweeted: "PBSO (Palm Beach Sheriff's Office) is investigating an incident at PBI (Palm Beach International). Concourse C has been evacuated. Check with your airline for flight status."

An update has now said that Concourse C is reopening.

It stated: "Concourse C is reopening. Passengers should contact their airline for flight information."

One woman has told how she was on the plane and told to get off with the other passengers and is now waiting for more information.

“They just told us that we needed to deplane and it took us a good 45 minutes for us to deplane and once we were off we just kind of waited in the terminal and we didn’t get too much information,” she said.

“I was hoping to go home tonight and I’m waiting outside security along with everyone else.”

It comes after fighter jets escorted a Ryanair flight to safety after the pilot reportedly called in a bomb threat mid-air, last Sunday.

The Boeing 737 was carrying 190 passengers from Katowice, Poland to Athens, Greece when Greek F-16 fighters scrambled to bring the aircraft to safety.

The plane was diverted over the sea as a precaution before landing at the airport in Athens at 5.40pm local time, reports say.

The aircraft had been escorted by Hungarian Air Force jets before entering North Macedonian airspace where the Greeks took over, it was reported.
