Trump filmed "yelling into the void" after media ban spectacularly backfires
Donald Trump’s ban on multiple US news outlets has seemingly backfired after a ceremony was broadcast without any audio.
CNN, Politico, MS Now and other outlets have been refused entry to the White House press pool, prompting lawsuits and outrage over attacks on press freedom.
In response, the White House offered ‘state-run’ media, Trump TV, to provide coverage of the President.
But shortly after unveiling the White House’s new $6,000,000 helipad, Trump-friendly news network Newsmax noted technical difficulties due to Trump’s newest press ban.
As the President rambled on about the new helipad, no audio was available, leading the anchor to observe: ‘Okay, there is no microphone because the press pool cameras aren’t there.
‘So maybe this is one example of this backfiring just a little bit … the ramifications are right here – can’t hear what the president is saying.’
CNN, MS Now and Politico issued a lawsuit against the Trump administration for banning its reporters this weekend.
Lawyers wrote: ‘This ban could not be a more direct assault on the First Amendment nor a more blatant violation of our most fundamental constitutional principles.’
Other television networks said they planned to stop their coverage of the President in ‘solidarity’ with their banned colleagues.
Other news outlets, including the New York Times and Washington Post, have been threatened as well, when Secret Service confiscated their passes at the White House gates on Saturday.
‘It is called the Oval Office, and it should be treated with Decorum, Respect, and Dignity, not defiled by Third Rate Clowns, who purposefully distort, twist, and degrade with everything they write or publish,’ Trump said.
‘Why should I have to give “access” to such people?’
He also said stories throughout his second term as President sparked the ban, rather than one in particular.
‘I don’t want them in my office. I don’t want them here. I would say the ban would go as far as you can, and if they could straighten themselves out, I’d love it,’ he added.
