A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving over a crash that left six people dead.

He remains in custody after being detained this morning, while police urged anyone with information about a grey Porsche 911 being driven in the area to contact them.

It comes after four adults and two children died at the scene on the the A61 in a head-on collision on Sunday afternoon, leaving an 11-year-old girl orphaned.

Motorcyclist and pillion passenger Christopher Barton, 56, and Janine Barton, 48, had just celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary and were only 20 minutes away from home after spending the day in Scarborough.

They collided with parents Shane Roller, 33, Shannen Morgan, 30, travelling the other way in a Ford Focus along with children Rubie Morgan-Roller, nine, and Lillie Morgan-Roller, four,

Eldest daughter Poppie, who was at a friend’s house when the family car collided with the BMW S100 XR motorbike, has now been left without parents or siblings after losing ‘her entire world in an instant’.

Detectives also want anyone who may possibly have dashcam, CCTV or doorbell footage of the Porsche and the manner it was being driven to contact them.

The crash happened near the village of Mapplewell, Barnsley.

Detective Sergeant Steven Suggitt said: ‘I would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen this grey Porsche 911 being driven on the roads around the south of Wakefield or north of Barnsley to please contact us.

‘I would also urge anyone who has dashcam, doorbell or CCTV footage of this car, that may assist our investigation, to please contact us.’
