Fortnite V-Bucks card deal gives players a free Midnight Scythe Pickaxe
Fortnite players have the chance to pick up a brand new Pickaxe, which will be added to their profile free of charge upon redeeming any V-Bucks gift card.
Epic Games has announced a brand new deal in which players who redeem any Fortnite V-Bucks card between Monday, March 18 and April 14, 2024will get the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe (which is currently exclusive to this deal) free of charge. The deal is available to players on Xbox, PlayStation, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android and requires an Epic Games account connected to your platform of choice.
Epic confirmed that the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe deal is only available in specific regions, which are as follows:
- Australia
- Austria
- Belgium
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Ireland
- Italy
- Japan
- Netherlands
- New Zealand
- Portugal
- Spain
- UK
- US
The promotion is running from Monday, March 18 until April 14, 2024 (Tuesday, March 19 until April 14, 2024 for players in Japan, Australia, and New Zealand).
While it's a shame for players in regions where this deal is unavailable, it's not all doom and gloom as Epic has confirmed that The Midnight Scythe Pickaxe is not exclusive to this promotion, and may become purchasable in the Fortnite Shop at a later date.

How to get the Fortnite Midnight Scythe Pickaxe
To get the Fortnite Midnight Scythe Pickaxe you need to redeem a Fortnite V-Bucks gift card between Monday, March 18 and April 14, 2024. the amount on the gift card doesn't matter, nor does it matter which platform you redeem it for. However, redeeming the codes on PlayStation and Xbox is a bit different than on other platforms, so we'll split it into sections below.
PC | Nintendo Switch | Android
To redeem your Fortnite V-Bucks card and earn the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe on PC, Nintendo Switch, and Android follow these steps:
- Head to the Epic Games wesbite
- Sign into your Epic Games Account
- Go to your profile on the top right of the page
- Select 'V-Bucks Card' on the drop down menu
- Select 'Get Started'
- Enter the code from your V-Bucks Card (no dashes)
- Select 'Next'
- Select the platform you want to redeem the V-Bucks on
- Select Confirm
After that, the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe will be yours the next time you log into Fortnite. It's worth noting that if you redeem the V-Bucks on Nintendo Switch, you won't be able to spend those V-Bucks on other platforms – however, purchases made on Switch will still appear in your in-game locker.
Xbox
Redeeming your Fortnite V-Bucks card on Xbox is similar to the other platforms, but there's extra steps involved this time around:
- Head to the Epic Games wesbite
- Sign into your Epic Games Account
- Go to your profile on the top right of the page
- Select 'V-Bucks Card' on the drop down menu
- Select 'Get Started'
- Enter the code from your V-Bucks Card (no dashes)
- Select 'Next'
- Select the platform you want to redeem the V-Bucks on
- Select Confirm
- Copy the 25-chararacter code generated on the site
- Go to the Microsoft redeem website
- Enter the second code
- Redeem the code
After that the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe is yours the next time you log into Fortnite.
PlayStation
Just like on Xbox, Redeeming your Fortnite V-Bucks card requires a second code and some extra steps:
- Head to the Epic Games wesbite
- Sign into your Epic Games Account
- Go to your profile on the top right of the page
- Select 'V-Bucks Card' on the drop down menu
- Select 'Get Started'
- Enter the code from your V-Bucks Card (no dashes)
- Select 'Next'
- Select the platform you want to redeem the V-Bucks on
- Select Confirm
- Copy the 12-chararacter code generated on the site
- Go to the PlayStation Store website
- Select your profile icon on the top right of the page
- Select 'Redeem Code' from the drop-down menu
- Enter the code into the popup
- Select 'Continue' twice
And it's as simple as that! Just make sure to redeem your Fortnite V-Bucks card between Monday, March 18 and April 14, 2024 to get the Midnight Scythe Pickaxe, and it'll appear in your in-game locker the next time you boot up the game.
