Mike Tyson has continued to ramp up his workouts as he prepares to fight Jake Paul. In the unlikeliest of boxing matches, the pair will step into the ring to battle one another on July 20 at AT&T Stadium - the home of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys.

Many are concerned about Tyson, now 57, competing against a man 30 years younger who is in his prime - having won nine of his 10 professional fights. The boxing legend last fought professionally in 2005 and his last in-ring action came during an exhibition bout against Roy Jones Jr back in November 2020.

But Tyson is striving to prove the doubters wrong as he illustrated the ferocious speed and power that left many opponents flat out on the canvas during his heyday. He posted a workout video to his social media accounts with his trainer wearing protective padding as Tyson dodged shots and produced some thunderous blows to the hands and around the body. Tyson's power was clear to see as he punched one of the mitts clean off his trainer's outstretched hand.

He captioned the clip: “Mitts flyin” and as the video began he said: “Day two, I’m getting ready for you,” and pointed at the camera following his message for his next opponent. On Wednesday, Tyson posted his first workout video in preparation for the highly-anticipated bout, in which he also possessed great speed and precision.

He wrote a simple message alongside the video which read: "It's day 1... the fun has just begun." The blockbuster bout will be streamed live on Netflix as the giant streaming platform aims to become more involved with live sports. Some of the rules around the fight, however, are still unclear.

Both Tyson and Paul reportedly want a professional fight, and while Paul's team says neither fighter will wear headgear, a TikTok user and heavyweight boxer Derek Chisora claimed they would do so. But Paul put an emphatic end to those suggestions when he posted a video to his Instagram stories criticising anyone who believed the rumors.

“Just a quick message to the people who are complaining about the rules of me versus Mike Tyson,” the 27-year-old began. “Some TikToker user made a video making up all these fake rules like me and Logan tag teaming him, us wearing headgear, all of this bull****.

‘If you believe that you’re a f*****g idiot and you shouldn’t be allowed to vote, you shouldn’t be allowed to drive on the streets and endanger other people. I feel for any dumb*** who believes that and I would never let my fans down in a fight like this and wearing headgear? Come on now people.”

Paul's business manager, Nakisa Bidarian, shared his point of view as he added: "Unequivocally there is no headgear for Paul vs Tyson, haters spreading fake news but it won't stop the 10's of millions of views."
