The Princess of Wales has become known for her chic wardrobe as well as her signature luscious hair that has seen her transform into a style icon.

And her classic look has spawned online groups where dedicated royal watchers often join together to discuss her latest outfits and where to get their hands on their pieces for themselves. So when one group of Kate fans managed to actually meet their idol during a walkabout they couldn't wait to praise her for her "beautiful" and "perfect" looks. However, they were left stunned when she gave an unexpected-yet-relatable five-word response to their lavish praise.

It came in 2017 when Kate and husband Prince William were on a trip to Poland and they conducted a walkabout near the Presidential Palace in Warsaw. Among the wellwishers were students who were avid followers of Kate's fashion and were lucky enough to chat to her. Afterwards one of the students, Magda Mordaka, revealed: "We are fans of the British monarchy. We have a Facebook group.

"We love her style and her contact with people. We were waiting for this visit from the very beginning. What would she wear? Would she bring the children?" So what did Kate say when they told her she is "beautiful and perfect"? Magda added she dismissed their praise and said: "It's just the make-up."

Recently royal fashion fans have been missing seeing the Princess of Wales as she takes a break from royal duties up until at least Easter after undergoing abdominal surgery in January. Details of the princess's condition have not been disclosed but Kensington Palace previously said it was not cancer-related and that Kate wished her personal medical information to remain private.

The 42-year-old future queen was last pictured in public during a Christmas Day walk in Sandringham, Norfolk. Kate is not expected to return to official duties until after Easter, and William, 41, temporarily stepped back from his royal role to juggle caring for her and their children as she recovered.

Kensington Palace was left reeling this week after the princess admitted editing a picture taken by William of Kate and their three children, released on Mother’s Day, which was criticised for being 'manipulated' and subsequently deleted from the libraries of the world's leading photographic agencies.

Kate said sorry with a statement on social media which read: "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. “I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C."
