Bev from Bordon, Hampshire, a star of the popular BBC show 'Escape to the Country', was dealt an unexpected blow which led her to sell her house and start living in a campervan.

She shared her current situation on the show, saying: "This is where I currently live, in my campervan. I sold my house in February so I'm now looking for somewhere else to go." She added: "My husband and I always wanted to have a nice place to move on to as our forever home but unfortunately he died last year so now it's just me and Indie (the dog)."

Bev's solo house-hunting aspiration included finding a home with ample outdoor space size did not matter much to her. She also wanted a spacious driveway for the campervan that she intended to keep even after she has a proper brick-and-mortar house to call home, reports the Express.

Bev was looking for a new home with two bedrooms, lots of space outside, and an extra building. She had £450,000 to spend in Carmarthenshire. She said: "It just has this really light, open feel and it's so beautifully quiet. I am apprehensive slightly, I'm used to having my husband there who would see the things I don't always see.

"So this will be the first house that I actually see myself and decide on, so that's quite a big move." The BBC show took presenter Ginny Buckley, Bev, and her son Joe on an adventure to hunt for homes. The first stop was near the village of Llansadwrn, where they instantly fell in love with what they saw and called it "fabulous".

Bev appreciated how the new elements seamlessly blended with the old parts of the house. She felt excited about an extra little dwelling in the garden and the vast four acres of space that came along with it.

The two-bedroom Victorian cottage was on the market for around £450,000, and Bev believed she may have found 'the one'. Next up was a viewing in the picturesque surroundings of Llanarthney village. An old farmhouse from around 1860 boasting ample land was up next. However, this didn't charm Bev like the first house had.

Then, the surprise home was nestled within the lively Cynwyl Elfed village, giving Bev a glimpse of life in a tight-knit community. While Bev seemed unsure about the village location, she admitted to really liking the personality and brightness in the detached four-bedroom house.

The land offered by the property was small, but a river flowing by at the end of the spacious garden was a charming aspect. On sale for £425,000, the house failed to cement Bev's conviction.

At the end of her tour around a house in Carmarthenshire, Bev shared that she had a special feeling about the first house and it was the only one she was considering. She explained: "It's just the garden, and everything about it was just right for me, I think the house is just the right size for me."

She also mentioned how the extra space in the outbuilding would be perfect for when her boys visit. She said: "Having that extra in the outbuilding as well, for the boys to come up (and stay), really works well. And when I get that feeling I have to go with it. I'm going to talk to the estate agent tomorrow."

Joe chimed in, saying: "My dad would be over the moon, I think he would have been very proud of her." You can watch this episode of Escape to the Country on BBC iPlayer now.
