Manchester United will take a break from Premier League action over the next few weeks but there's still plenty happening at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are in the thick of preparations for this weekend’s FA Cup clash with fierce rivals Liverpool. Erik ten Hag’s side welcome their fierce rivals on Sunday, with the victor earning a ticket to Wembley.

Ahead of that game, United have been handed a string of significant injury boosts. There have also been a number of claims about the futures of a host of players.

Planning will already be in place for the summer transfer window under Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Find out all of the headlines from Old Trafford from the past 24 hours with Mirror Football:

Red Devils handed Mount boost

Ahead of Sunday’s clash with Liverpool, Man United have been handed a welcome sight with Mason Mount’s return to training. The former Chelsea midfielder has been struggling with injury since November and has not made a competitive appearance since then.

The Red Devils confirmed his return to training on their website and have revealed that he is still attempting to work through a rehabilitation programme. Despite returning, Mount is not expected to play a part this weekend.

Speaking ahead of last weekend’s win over Everton, Ten Hag said: "Mason Mount, I think he is in a good spell now and he will return shortly. I think after the international break."

Mount was not the only familiar face to return. Man United also confirmed that right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also back in training.

Barcelona meeting explained

Eyebrows have been raised this week with Manchester United chiefs John Murtough and Matt Hargreaves both being spotted in Barcelona. There were suggestions that the pair could be in town for transfer talks with the Catalan giants - particularly with Mason Greenwood a reported Catalan target.

However, it appears that transfer negotiations were not on the agenda. According to reports, the pair were only in Spain for what has been described as a ‘routine meeting’.

Despite that, Barcelona are still trying to get a deal for Greenwood over the line. It is suggested that they have acquired information on the striker and are aware that the Red Devils are interested in a clutch of their own academy prospects.

Amad fires back at exit talk

Amad Diallo has assured fans that his recent social media activity has nothing to do with a potential exit. The Ivorian got fans talking after deleting every mention of the Red Devils from his Instagram account.

His Twitter account bio was also changed to "this will all end". Amad however has explained the reason behind the change. He said: "I've deactivated my social media for a month just to focus on Ramadan. Stop the hatred, there's nothing wrong with what I did. It's holy month for me and social media is a place where there are bad things to see during fasting."
