Riley Strain's parents hope Apple Watch holds clue to student's disappearance
The parents of missing University of Missouri student Riley Strain say they're waiting on court paperwork that may hint at what happened to the young man.
With court permission, Metro Police and his family can access bank card transactions and Apple Watch that may help lead them to college senior Riley Strain, who was last seen on Friday night, March 8, after he was kicked out of a bar. So far, surveillance footage showing what is believed to be one of the last sightings of a 22-year-old who disappeared after being kicked out of a bar has been released.
Metro Nashville Police released the video footage of Stain. According to police, Riley was kicked out of Luke Bryan's Nashville bar on Friday night, and nobody has been able to contact him since. The footage, released Tuesday morning, shows Riley walking across 1st Avenue North toward Gay Street at 9.47 pm on Friday. In the footage, he can be seen wearing the same black and light brown shirt his friends reported him to be wearing when they last saw him.

"He’s my baby," said Michelle Whiteid, the mother of the missing man. The family told FOX 17 News on Tuesday morning that they are still waiting for detectives to contact them regarding any surveillance video or leads. Crews have been deployed to search the waterways Tuesday with help from a nonprofit called the United Cajun Navy.
As rescue crews comb the canals, his stepfather described the situation as a "nightmare." Chris Whiteid said: "This is definitely the worst nightmare. He talks to his mom three or four times a day. For him to go this long without talking is not normal by any means." Strain’s phone pinged on the Life360 and Snapchat apps, and from Verizon’s tower about 30 to 45 minutes after he left the bar. However, Strain’s phone has not been active since.
CCTV footage shows Strain crossing the street away from the bar and walking towards the hotel, but his family and friends haven't seen him since (MNDP)He is a member of the Delta Chi fraternity and was reportedly in Nashville for a fraternity conference. In the call with 911, his friend Brayden appeared distressed as he tried to give the responder as much information as possible.
His mom, Michelle Whiteid, said she had not heard from her son since a call with him hours before he vanished. She added: "He's always texting me, calling me, FaceTiming me. He's always in touch with me. He's very communicative." University of Missouri officials said they are "in touch with the family and authorities in Nashville who are working to find Strain."
Angela King Taylor, interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs said: "The safety of our community is our highest priority. Our thoughts are with Riley's family as the search continues. We will be offering any support to them that we can, and we encourage anyone who needs help to reach out to our counseling resources."
Riley is described as a white male, around 6'5" to 6'7" weighing around 160 pounds. He has dark blond hair and blue eyes and was last seen wearing a black and light brown button up shirt, with a black chest pocket, blue jeans, brown boots and a black Apple watch.
“Please if you know anything, please call the police,” pleaded Michelle, to anyone who may have seen her son. Anyone who believes have seen Strain should immediately call MNPD at 615-862-8600.
