Lorraine Kelly has revealed she jumped all over her husband after he finally asked her out.

The TV presenter has been married to husband Steve Smith since 1992 after meeting when he worked as a cameraman for TV-am. She has previously admitted she know he was 'The One' from the very first moment she laid eyes on him. They were friends for a year before getting together, with the wait agonising Lorraine.

Steve and Lorraine, who was working as a reporter at the time, headed on a shoot in Glencoe in 1984 where they finally became an item. She recalled: "It took Steve a year to ask me out. I got very drunk in Glencoe. We were on tequila with ginger ale. Then I jumped on him like a ninja!"

"That was the Friday, he took me to see Dundee United on the Saturday, then that was that," she told Woman Magazine. "We've been together ever since." Last year the couple celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary. Speaking on her ITV show, Lorraine said: "It's been 31 happy years and never a bad word said. Probably because he doesn't get a word in edgeways. I'm a very lucky woman. So happy anniversary Steve, 31 years together. We're going to celebrate in our own way tonight."

Lorraine typically keeps her family life out of the spotlight, however she once recalled: "I met Steve when I was about Rosie's age. I try to never take him for granted, and he's just really funny. He does put up with a lot though. If things are getting too much for me or I'm overwhelmed, he's really good at just being like: 'Take five.'" In 1994 the couple became parents to Rosie, who is their only child.

Lorraine suffered a miscarriage five years later and they decided not to go down the IVF or adoption route because they felt lucky to have healthy and happy Rosie. Opening up on her miscarriage following Meghan Markle's own admission, she said: "It was almost exactly the same, having to go to hospital and the way she talked about it. What really helped me was being able to talk to you obviously and also other people, but also Rosie."

When Rosie was younger, Lorraine had to juggle her career and travelled back and forward from London to Dundee meaning Steve was the primary caregiver. He was always the one telling Rosie to "eat your broccoli, do your homework," Lorraine said. "He was the bad cop. I was the one who would let her sit and watch the rubbish on the telly. I wouldn't be very good at doing discipline anyway." Rosie added: "Dad was always the one who gave me a telling-off!"
