It is important to wash your new crockery before use to prevent germs from the store from mixing with your food. But this simple task has turned into an utter nightmare for one woman, who is now seeking advice on how to remove the sticky labels from her new bowls.

She explained how she spent 20 minutes "picking at the sticker" - but got no closer to removing the stubborn labels from the center of her new crockery. She said on Reddit: "Okay so I am trying the different advice I was given. So far, boiling water and Dawn dish soap doesn’t work.

"In the second picture, I spent 20-plus minutes picking at the sticker, then soaked in boiling water with soap, then scrubbed with a Scrub Daddy for about five minutes and there is still adhesive in the bowl." Annoyed, the woman says she's considering just throwing them away and starting again with a labelless set.

But in a last-ditch attempt, she added: "Seriously asking, if I use Goo Gone, will it wash completely off afterward and be safe to eat out of?" Eagar to help her out and save the bowls from the bin, Reddit users suggested everything from using WD-40, to cooking oil, white vinegar and even using a hair dryer to warm up the adhesive.

One user said: "Cooking oil and a scrubby, then wash with dish soap. The oil is going to break up the adhesive, and the soap will break up the oil." Another user added: "Try isopropyl alcohol and the rough side of a sponge. You can also try scraping at it with a razor blade with the alcohol soaking it."

A third user said: "I just bought some of these at Walmart today and I used 90 per cent rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball to rub the adhesive off then hot water with dawn dish soap! Hope this helps." One more user added: "WD40 and leave on for 10 mins and thoroughly wash after."
