Oscars viewers were left speechless when eager Al Pacino appeared keen to get home as he crowned Oppenheimer for Best Picture.

The Godfather actor made quite the blunder during Sunday's star-studded Academy Awards, seemingly forgetting his rehearsals while on stage. He was tasked with announcing the Best Picture winner, but failed to mention some important information.

Now body language expert Judi James has exclusively analysed his awkward on-air gaffe, detailing what happened when he forgot to read out this year's nominees. The behavioural professional says Al was likely "confused" by the show's "format".

Judi explained: "Despite all his years as a movie icon, Pacino has only even won one Oscar so it might be fair to say that he’s not a regular up on that stage and might have been confused by the format. His appearance does suggest he was never going to be the smoothest of presenters though, with his fashionably dishevelled appearance including a black shirt undone at the top button and a crooked black tie."

He should have really known what he was doing, having been spotted practising on stage on Sunday morning, going through his lines and exactly what he needed to do when the cameras were pointed in his direction. "As he preps to announce he seems to look up searching for the auto-cue with his brows raised but there are actually no signs of any Biden-like bewilderment or confusion here," Judi explained. She concluded: "Pacino's facial expression suggests a sense of playfulness, with his 'my eyes see Oppenheimer' seeming to come from a place of fun and maybe enthusiasm to share the news."

Pacino seemed to have forgotten how to do his job as he announced Oppenheimer as Best Picture winner, saying: "Best Picture…uh, I have to go to the envelope for that. And I will. Here it comes. And my eyes see Oppenheimer?" Viewers were confused as hosts usually read out the nominees before announcing the winner. One fan said on X: "I'm obsessed with the way Al Pacino announced Oppenheimer as Best Picture. couldn't have been more chaotic or confusing lol."

Another added: "'My eyes see Oppenheimer?' Al Pacino with an all time #Oscars moment." A third viewer commented: "Al Pacino was like, 'I ain’t standing here while you read out 10 nominees bro. Oppenheimer come get your s**t'."

Despite this, film producer Emma Thomas and director Nolan went on stage to accept the award and gave a heartfelt speech. Nolan said: "Movies are just a little bit over 100 years old. We don't know where this incredible journey is going from here.
