Jake Paul in agreement with Mike Tyson after foul-mouthed UFC prediction
Jake Paul and Mike Tyson are both huge fans of Sean O'Malley, with the UFC star bouncing back to secure revenge over Marlon Vera.
The American secured an unanimous points victory over his rival, getting the better of him in all five rounds. O'Malley's only defeat in his 19-fight UFC career came against Vera, who landed a TKO victory in round one when they squared off four years ago.
O'Malley suffered an early injury in the first contest and there had long been a clamour for a rematch. The bantamweight fighter from Montana was able to avenge that defeat and claimed he still considers himself undefeated despite having the blot on his record.
O'Malley said: "That one feels good getting that one back. I’m guessing we can all agree that I’m undefeated still.” His rival was full of praise as Vera claimed: "I always said he was a great fighter. We can talk s*** to each other, but I know he’s a good striker. I tried to stay toe-to-toe with him to catch him. He did well. He did better than me. We’ll be back.”
Paul and Tyson, who themselves will square off in the summer, have equally been impressed by O'Malley. Speaking in an episode of Hotboxin' with Mike Tyson two years ago, the heavyweight legend said: "I saw him lose a fight where he didn’t really lose. He broke his leg, he would’ve kicked this guy’s f**king a**."
Logan Paul and KSI announce new partnership with UFC president Dana WhiteAnd Paul is seemingly in agreement over O'Malley's ability - and he tweeted on Sunday morning: "5 ROUNDS TO 0. Congrats Sean Young. legend". The YouTuber, who beat Ryan Bourland in his 10th professional fight last Saturday, will take on the Tyson in a boxing match on 20 July. Tyson's professional career ended in 2005 and he will turn 58 three weeks before facing Paul.
It remains unclear whether the bout will be an official fight or an exhibition - but it will be staged in Texas and broadcast live on streaming platform Netflix.
Paul has said on social media: "My sights are set on becoming a world champion, and now I have a chance to prove myself against the greatest heavyweight champion of the world, the baddest man on the planet and the most dangerous boxer of all time. Time to put Iron Mike to sleep."
Paul has won nine of his 10 boxing fights, with the majority of his opponents being ex-UFC fighters. His only defeat came against British heavyweight Tommy Fury in February 2023 after the pair had constantly gone at each other on social media.
