The Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers died aged 66 last month, with his co-star and best friend Si King announcing the devastating news on social media.

Fans have been in mourning over the late star - who died two years after revealing his cancer diagnosis. Dave never revealed what type of cancer he had, admitting in an interview back in 2022 that he "did not want to be judged" over it. He previously explained he did not share this information "because everybody then goes Googling, everybody becomes an amateur doctor … And I don’t want to be judged – yet".

Years before his death, Dave discussed his funeral plans in detail and said he wanted everyone to have a good time and "loosen up" after the main service. In an article from 2014, Dave said he wanted his coffin to be carried out to The Scorpions' hit song The Best Is Yet To Come to 'cheer everyone up'.

He added that he wanted to be remembered as someone who 'had a go' and wanted people to 'never limit' their goals. In order to get everyone "loosened up", he said he wanted vodka martinis to be service before the church service.

In the MailOnline article, he planned for a rollercoaster of emotions as he said he wanted the funeral to start with a reading of Blake's Innocence, then Vaughan Williams' Lark Ascending. To dry up their tears, he wanted the "good rock anthem" by The Scorpions played to make everyone happy.

He added: "I'd prefer a traditional burial as I'm not keen on all that burning stuff. For the wake, I will lay on a feast of meat and potato pie and chips with some decent wines." Talking about how he wants people to reflect on his life, he said his philosophy was: "Just have a go and never limit your ambitions. Aim for the moon and you might just get there. As my dad used to say, 'You've got to fill in your coupon, or you'll never win the Pools'."

Hairy Bikers co-star Si announced the news of his death last month, with the TV star writing: "Hi everyone, I'm afraid I bear some sad news. Most of you will know Dave has been fighting cancer for the past couple of years. Last night, on 28th February 2024, with Lili, Dave's wife, his family, close friend David and myself by his side, he passed away peacefully at home. All who knew Dave are devastated at his passing.

"His beloved wife brought him such happiness as did her children, Iza and Sergiu who Dave loved like his own. Personally, I am not sure I can put into words how I feel at the moment. My best friend is on a journey that for now, I can't follow. I will miss him every day and the bond and friendship we shared over half a lifetime. I wish you God's speed brother; you are and will remain a beacon in this world. See you on the other side. Love ya."

Si added: "I know Dave and his family would want me to thank all of you who sent messages of support in recent times. It meant the world to him, his family and all The Hairy Bikers team. I am sending you all much love and gratitude for those simple acts of kindness, generosity and spirit. We are eternally grateful for them. May I ask you all for one further kindness and allow Lili, his wife, his family, close friends and I some time and some peace to process our huge loss. I am sure I will see you all soon. Love Si x."
