"For me, a glutton, losing my appetite was awful, a can of soup was about as far as I could go.

"Now I've got to the point where I'm at the weight I want to be, and I want to maintain it."

After initially starting his treatment, Dave lost his hair and signature beard but recently took to social media to share a snap taken from a night out – sporting his full beard again.

However, his treatment also saw his ability to walk be hit by side effects as he explained to Kaye Adams: "By God, the chemotherapy doesn't half age you quickly.

Your balance goes, so for someone with a motorbike that's a disaster, and my walking has been affected quite a lot, really," before adding that he had to "learn to walk again properly".

Speaking on the How To Be 60 podcast, Dave said he has "no symptoms" of his cancer and was merely just affected bu the chemotherapy.

He explained to Kaye that regardless of a person's social economic background, "if you're on the telly or on the dole if you get that then you're in the s**t," he said.

However, he went on to say that the chemotherapy treatment can make the patient depressed due to those around you encouraging you to be positive but your own body is battling the disease.
