Hairy Bikers star Dave Myers marked a 'big step forward' as he gets back on the road amid his cancer treatment.

The 65-year-old, who found fame as one half of the cooking duo the Hairy Bikers alongside friend and fellow chef Simon ‘Si’ King, revealed in May last year that he was undergoing chemotherapy for cancer.

However, he has remained optimistic throughout and recently revealed he bought a new motorcycle.

Taking to the Hairy Bikers' official Instagram page on Monday, Dave told fans he's 'getting back in the saddle'.

"Big step forward in getting back in the saddle," he captioned the post. "Si came with me to take a look at my new bike, a 500cc royal Enfield bullet trials bike.

In the snap, he and Si flexed their muscles and smiled for the camera as they posed next to the motorcycle.

Dave cut a casual figure in skinny grey jeans and a black leather jacket. He completed the look with a brown scarf.

Fans immediately rushed to the comment section to compliment the star and congratulate him on his new purchase.

"Brilliant news Dave, you're looking great," one user said while another added: "Lovely to see you looking so well, Dave."

One fan posted: "Excellent enjoy your recovery and more importantly enjoy many more ventures on your new motorcycle Dave."

"Heartwarming! Lovely to see you, looking great, ride safely!" another commented.

Earlier this year, D ave confessed he has been 'learning to live with cancer' as he provided his fans with an update.

He seemed optimistic in a recent interview about his well-being following his cancer diagnosis last year.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, the chef gave an update on his health battle, for which he has been undergoing treatment since April.

He said: "[The treatment] is still ongoing but I'm kinda doing all right, it's like many people, it's something one learns to live with."

Dave, who has had guest stints on the likes ofStrictly Come Dancingand Countdown, reassured fans that he was ‘going to be fine’ following his cancer diagnosis – although, he opted not to tell fans exactly what type of cancer he is grappling with.
