Gary Goldsmith has spoken up in defence of his Royal niece

Gary Goldsmith - aka the Princess of Wales' Uncle Gary - has made a very personal admission about his royal niece.

Celebrity Big Brother is back, and viewers have been surprised to see a royal guest in the house - almost, at least. Millionaire businessman Gary, who regards himself as the 'black sheep of the Royal family', is the younger brother of Kate Middleton's mother, Carole Middleton, and knew the princess long before her fairytale wedding to Prince William.

Fans will likely be intrigued to hear Gary's thoughts on Kate behind closed doors, away from the pomp and splendour of palace life, especially given that the 58-year-old has previously offered insight into how the Princess of Wales really feels about Harry and Meghan's explosive Netflix documentary.

In the doc, which aired in 2022, it was claimed that Prince William 'shouted and screamed' at his younger brother while discussing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's bombshell decision to step back from Royal life.

Giving a different view on things, Gary expressed that Kate would be keen for her husband to mend bridges with Prince Harry. Blasting the six-part series as 'a self-pitying whinge-fest', Gary revealed: "I think Catherine and William will be feeling deeply wounded. They love Harry, they miss him. He is family and, despite this attack, I believe they'd still welcome him and Meghan back.

"There's nothing Catherine would want more than for the brothers to be reconciled because that's the real love story here. Two brothers who love each other but have been torn apart."

Gary also took issue with the 'laughable' characterisation of Kate as a 'cold' individual, whose formality shocked the supposedly more relaxed Meghan. He argued: "Everybody loves Kate, she is the most beautiful girl; even more beautiful on the inside than out. She's got a big heart and desperately wants the boys to get back together. You could see that at the funeral of Prince Philip. When it was the three of them together you could see the bond.

"Kate is really welcoming and such a gorgeous girl, so to imply she's cold was really hard, a bitter pill to swallow."
